Which is all true and is what makes Jean Santeuil the weaker book, but for those of us who have read ISOLT it is very interesting to see the early manifestations of the characters and scenarios and to experience Proust trying to work out what to do with his characters.

I may tackle In Search of Lost Time but break my reading into segments. All the great themes which were so jfan Proust’s preoccupation- nature, love, jealousy, time, and above all memory- are in evidence.
