Showing definite improvement, Eileen Wilks demonstrates solid story telling. I truly don’t mind that she is a questioning sort because heck, who wouldn’t be in awe and questioning when introduced to new details about beings and creatures that have been closed off from you before. I also very much enjoyed the both the re-acquaintance with established characters – I’m a huge Cullen fan – and the introduction of new ones.

Cullen plays a much larger role, and I hope Wilks continues to show us more of his character. Adrenaline packed, emotions running high, adventure, surprises, and new characters I care about. I liked the book. There’s her sister’s wedding, a missing magical staff with unknown powers, and her grandmother’s sudden decision to visit the old country just when Lily could use a little advice.
