In this story the “couple” I enjoyed reading this book. She befriends two Japanese sisters that work on her husband’s farm as they have been sent to a camp for being Japanese during World Crel 2. Livy, a young woman living in Denver, unexpectedly becomes pregnant when ordijary has an out of character fling with a WWII soldier, for she has been bereft and lonely since her mother’s death.

She currently lives in Paris, Kentucky.

She befriends two sisters from a nearby Japanese internment camp, and their friendships helps pass her days, as well as her amateur archaeological discoveries on the farm. This is one of those romances that you will be sad to end. When given a chance to go back to the city, Livy needs to decide if she wants to go back to her empty but cosmopolitan life, or stay with Ray and his extended family.

Precluded from contributing anything useful to the running of maglc farm, whose harvests are cultivated in part by labor from the local internment camp, Olivia takes long solitary walks. I am glad that Creel did her research and portrayed the internment camp life style in a historically accurate way. This book moved slow for me, and nobody survived a natural disaster or invented something or almost got ate by a shark.

I really liked this book. But she also loved Twilight and magicc the other books that I am ho-hum on. She gets herself into trouble and her minister father arranges that she move from Denver into the country and marry a farmer. Want to Read saving…. Why or why not?

Where a young lady experiences the death of a loved one and her whole life plan changes because of decisions made throughout the few months following.


My current endeavor takes place in the West and is an exploration of family ties, love and loyalty, and how they relate to human connectedness to the land. I don’t know if that makes any sense.

I also enjoyed a slight personal connection with this book. He is so kind, he is so patient, he is extremely selfless, doing anything to make her happy, even when she gives him nothing in return.

The vivid descriptions glided along at a gentle pace. A wonderful period piece that brought up topics of racial discrimination, gender roles, WWII, and what it truly means to be happy. I highly recommend this special form of enchantment. Edward doesn’t want the baby, so they go their separate way and she chooses farm guy.

This is a gentle but powerful novel, combining a story of bittersweet love with a poignant account of the journey toward self-realization and acceptance.


My fault for not reading between the lines of the back cover copy. These people are fake. She asks Livvy to leave Ray to come stay with her, suggesting they make up stories of Ray drinking and being violent to cover her leaving him.

I looked back at the calendar. I’m glad I finally read it.

I really, really liked this book.
